Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

So, last week is was in the hot and sunny land of Arizona and now I am back to a blizzardy Colorado!  Funny how that works.  I think this climate change may be taking a tole on my allergies…oy.

So, my family and I ventured to Arizona last week for 2 different events.  First was my Grandma’s memorial in Tucson :o(  Miss you, Grandma!  (and Grandpa!)  Although it was nice to see some of my extended family, it was still a sad event.  *sniff*

But after that my familia drove to Scottsdale for a MUCH happier event…a wedding!!  It was my “cousin’s” aka really good family friend’s wedding and it was spectacular!  I can’t even begin to describe how beautiful it was.  The whole weekend was fantastic and I’m sad that it’s over and I’m back in the real world.  There was dancing and drinking and partying and it was just magical.  I am still thoroughly exhausted after all of the festivities.

So now I’m back in good ole’ Colorado and dealing with a massive snow storm!  I actually LOVE the snow so I don’t mind this one bit, although, I am a little peeved that I have to go in to work today…like anyone will be shopping!  Ha!  I think I’m going to bring with a magazing or something to read and keep me occupied.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…

And On Another Note...

So besides the hilarious DQ episode, nothing too exciting has been going on in my life.  Origins is going fabulously!  I’m so glad I made the switch.  I am selling SOO much more and actually enjoy the product.  Yeehaw!  It’s so nice to feel productive at work.

I’m going to good ole’ Arizona at the end of the week with my family for 2 different events.  First we are going to Tucson for my Grandma’s memorial.  In Judaism, you have a memorial one year after the passing which is when the headstone is revealed.  So that will be the first part of the trip (*sniff*) and then we will be on to a happier occassion in a different part of Arizona for a wedding.  The wedding is black tie optional, so it should be fabulous!  Now if only I could find the perfect pair of shoes for my dress…argh.

And on that wedding note, I just found out that my good friends from Chicago are engaged!!!  Congrats Maria and Jordan!  Woohoo!

And because we all know that my cooking skills are still sub-par, I can’t forget my awesome moment of getting home the other night and opening up my package of what I thought was a fillet-o-trout only to realize that I got the wrong thing and the head and tail where still attached…ewww!  I did de-head the fish and cooked it and it actually turned out pretty good, so I guess it all worked out in the end, but what a surprise that was!

Anyway, happy Sunday, Everyone! xoxo

Dairy Queen

Yesterday I was on my lunch break and I ventured to the food court to get a drink at Subway, which is conveniently located next to Dairy Queen.  As I’m passing Dairy Queen I notice a familiar face…  There is a lady who frequents the mall with her two small long haired yorkies.  Cute, right?  Well…this woman puts her pups in a doggie stroller.  Yes, a doggie stroller.  Now, she isn’t the first person I’ve seen at the mall to put her dogs in a stroller, but she is however, the first I’ve seen to put a hat on one dog and a bow on the other and then do this:  She is at DQ and she orders 2, TWO! ice creams.  One for her and yes, you guessed it, one for her dogs.  Now you may be thinking, “Oh please!  It’s for her hubby/boyfriend/friend/etc you nutter!”  But oh no.  She takes a seat and table and proceeds to spoon feed the pups vanilla soft serve.  Yeah.  You can’t make this stuff up people, I saw it with my own two eyes (watering with laughter I should mention).  Yikes, lady, yikes…

Sunday

I forgot how beautiful Colorado is in the fall.  *sigh*  It was perfect outside.  Not too hot, not too cold.  The leaves have changed color and are starting to fall off the trees.  Today I took a nice run outside in this glorious weather which was followed by going to my parents house to do laundry and watch the Broncos game.  Can’t beat that! Now I’m just hanging out the ‘rents while dinner is cooking.  Mmmm.  I also started my own business “page” on Facebook today.  It’s my first baby step into starting my mini makeup artist biz.  I’d like to have a pretty decent clientele so that I can do makeovers for special events and get a little extra mula.  Hopefully this will be a good start to that!  The hardest part of this is going to be finding the money to create a well stocked makeup kit.  We’ll see how it goes.  And tomorrow is finally my first day at Origins!  Hip hip hooray!  What a good start to the week…

Homecoming

Today a bunch of high schools had Homecoming.  So what does that mean?  Homecoming makeovers!  And LOTS of them.  I did NINE today.  I had one 30 minute break in between but otherwise they were all back to back.  O.M.G. I am in pain.  Literally.  I am sitting on my couch with a heating pad right now.  No joke.  Ouch.  They were really fun, but stressful.  What if they don’t like it?  What if it turns out bad?  There are going to be pictures of this night that will be around for ages!  I can’t be responsable for making these girls look bad!  Luckily, they all turned out great.  PHEW!  I got some really nice compliments from the girls and their moms, so that made me feel a lot better, and more confident about my skills as a makeup artist.  But wow, that was exhausting.  Luckily I was smart enough to buy a smoothie and keep it behind the counter so I had something to keep me going.  Now I’m home and heathing my back and looking forward to having tomorrow off.  Yay!  I was supposed to start at the Origins counter tomorrow, but my schedule got shuffled around so tomorrow I’m off.  Thank goodness!  Tomorrow’s agenda:  clean, workout, sleep.  And maybe laundry and shoe shopping.  But for sure the first three. :o)  Night all!  xoxo

Why do I always feel the need to bake in the middle of the night?

 I’m glad I’m not alone… I’m baking cookies!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Since the moral at work currently sucks, and my coworkers are acting like spoiled bratty pre-teens and partaking in a gossip/backstabbing-fest, I have decided to bake yummy Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies from scratch (holla!) and bring them into work tomorrow.  There is, however, one condition.  No one eats my happy yummy friendshipy cookies without a promise to take a deep breath and a step back and realize that this behavior is not helpful nor healthy and that if we don’t all start supporting and caring for one another then we may as well kiss our business goodbye.  I won’t stand for this bullshit nonsense anymore.  Gossiping and backstabbing should be done and over with by this point in our lives.  And quite frankly…we work in cosmetics!  Get the freak over it!  Come on now!  Take your job seriously and act like an adult.  Sheesh.  So yes, my answer is chocolate chip cookies.  If this doesn’t solve the problem then we are all in BIG trouble… ;o)
